About Darell

Darell Brown

Darell Brown for 7th Ward City Council

My name is Darell Brown. I was born in Flint and raised in Beecher, yes, Buc Town. I often say Beecher is my mother and Flint is my father because both communities shaped who I am today. I am the tenth of twelve children raised by hardworking parents who taught me the value of family, discipline, and standing up for others. Growing up in a large family taught me how to listen, lead, and work through differences, lessons that prepared me for leadership early in life.

I am a proud father of three children, Isriyell, Darell Jr., and Zacari, who motivate me every day to help build a safer and stronger future for our community.

My passion for service began at nine years old when I volunteered at the Crim Festival of Races handing out water to runners. Since then, I have served through church ministries, soup kitchens, food pantries, after-school programs, and community outreach efforts supporting families and individuals in need.

In 2017, I founded Brown Boi Productions, LLC, capturing and celebrating community events like Juneteenth and Back to the Bricks. I am also a proud member of the NAACP, standing in the tradition of those who have fought for justice and equality in our communities. I also worked in the legal field assisting Attorney Haruska, helping more than 20 individuals return home to their families. For years, I have served as a case manager, working with at-risk youth and adults to build life skills, find employment, and enter the building trades.

At my core, I believe in unity, accountability, and service. I believe in bringing back a strong sense of community where neighbors support one another and work together to build a better future.
